About the Role:
Team: Xitricon AI Platform Engineering
As Lead AI Engineer, you will be a cornerstone of our growing AI practice. This is not a role for someone who waits for a detailed brief, you will take ambiguous, high-stakes problems, structure your own approach, and drive solutions end-to-end. You will also play a critical mentorship role, elevating the capabilities of the wider engineering team and helping shape our internal technical standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Solution Design & Engineering
- Architect and lead the end-to-end delivery of enterprise AI solutions, from problem framing to production deployment
- Build and optimize LLM orchestration workflows, including prompt engineering, chaining, and tool integration
- Integrate AI capabilities with internal enterprise systems (CRM, ERP, knowledge bases, APIs)
- Support deployment across cloud or on-prem environments and contribute to continuous improvement of the AI platform
- Implement monitoring, logging, and evaluation mechanisms for AI performance, quality, and cost
Architecture & Governance
- Work closely with platform architects to ensure scalability, reliability, and security of AI solutions
- Collaborate with Security & Governance teams to embed explainability, compliance, and human-in-the-loop controls
- Define and enforce technical standards, code quality practices, and engineering documentation
Clients & Teams Engagement
- Mentor junior and mid-level AI engineers, accelerating their learning rate and problem-solving depth
- Conduct technical reviews and pair-programming sessions to build team capability
- Foster a culture of curiosity, experimentation, and continuous learning within the AI practice
- Translate complex AI/ML concepts into clear business language for client and stakeholder communication
Required Skills & Experience:
- 6+ years of hands-on experience in AI/ML engineering with a strong portfolio of delivered solutions
- Deep proficiency in Python and core Agentic AI frameworks
- Demonstrated experience designing and deploying production-grade AI systems at scale
- Experience with Generative AI, LLMs, RAG architectures, and prompt engineering
- Proven ability to work independently on complex, open-ended problems with minimal supervision
- Experience working with APIs, microservices, and enterprise integration patterns
- Understanding of cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP) and containerised deployments
- Knowledge of data privacy, security, or compliance considerations in AI systems in specific geographic regions
Nice to Have:
- Experience with conversational AI platforms
- Experience working in regulated industries
- Exposure to multilingual NLP, inclusive AI design, or AI for emerging markets
- Prior experience in a consulting or client-facing technical role
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field
- Strong engineering fundamentals with applied AI experience
- Curiosity to learn and adapt to a fast-evolving AI landscape
- Clear communication and ability to work with cross-functional team
